Mr. Mineka P Wickramasingha, President Emeritus and founder Chairman of Ceylon Biscuits Limited was bestowed the prestigious title “Deshamanya” by the President, H.E. Maitripala Sirisena, yesterday at the investiture ceremony of conferring national honours on distinguished personalities who rendered a noble service to the country and its advancement.
President Emeritus (PE), Mr. Mineka Wickramasingha was among the ten awardees of the prestigious “Deshamanya” title conferred in recognition of distinguished service of a highly meritorious nature to the nation, and CBL family takes pride in congratulating PE for his outstanding achievement.

CBL’s flagship brand Munchee won Gold as the CSR brand of the year and the Local Brand of the year. Munchee also won 2 Silver awards for “Product Brand of the year” and “Innovative brand of the year” as well.

CBL Natural Foods a subsidiary of the Ceylon Biscuits Limited group are the proud winners of the “Highest value added Exporter Organic Products” at the recently concluded Presidential Exports award organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.

Plenty Foods (Pvt) Limited (PFL) a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Limited won a “Merit Award” at the recently concluded Ian Dias Abaeysinghe Memorial CSR Award Competition 2015 for the “CBL Govi Pawula Project”. This was organised by the Japan Sri Lanka Technical & Cultural Association (JASTECA).
PFL has a strong bond with the 8,000 plus farmer community who cultivate and supply grains to manufacture Samaposha. PFL embraces the corporate social responsibility of sustaining and developing the local farmer community in five areas under the Farmer Club “CBL Govi Pawula” concept. These are Farmer knowledge enhancement (Govi Danuma), Farmer Society Infrastructure Development (Govi Arana), Farmer Family Sustenance Support (Govi Sarana), Medical Assistance (Govi Suwaya) and much neglected Farmer Family Happiness (Govi Sathuta). Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL’s) flagship brand Munchee was awarded Silver at the recently concluded Jasteca CSR Awards 2015 for its ‘Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana’ community development initiative which has benefitted thousands of needy Sri Lankans across the island. This is the second time that the brand has won this award for it’s ‘Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana’ project, the previous win being in the year 2012.
The ‘Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana’ programme identifies marginalised areas of the country and ensures that the basic needs of the community living in these areas are met. The initiative thus far encompasses the building of drinking water systems, construction of school buildings and libraries, donation of computer labs and provision of electricity to schools, construction of mini bridges as well as community centres and community health centres. the 92 projects carried out thus far have directly benefitted over 100,000 Sri Lankans in needy areas.

At the recently concluded Social Dialog & Workplace Co-operation 2015 competition conducted by the Ministry of Labour & Trade Union Relations, Ceylon Biscuits Limited was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Large Scale Manufacturing category under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka.
Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) recently added a new brand and product line to its portfolio with the launch of ‘Sera‘, a premium liquid coconut milk conveniently available in 180ml UHT packs. The company has invested over Rs. 2 billion to set up the state of the art factory that extracts, sterilises and hygienically packages coconut milk, using high quality machinery and technology from Europe.
Retailing at Rs. 60/- per pack, Sera is expected to be a popular choice among housewives, cooking enthusiasts and professional chefs, as it is 100% real coconut milk with no artificial flavours, colours, additives or preservatives, with a shelf life of one year. Its thicker consistency is another unique feature that will allow home or professional cooks to use the milk in a variety of sweet and savoury dishes and can be easily diluted to the required consistency.
‘Sera’ factory is situated in Alawwa, within the coconut growing area to ensure an uninterrupted supply of coconuts throughout the year.
The investment in this new business is part of the company’s diversification strategy which has seen a successful foray into organic fruit products, cereal, extruded snacks, in addition to its original biscuit business.
Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) was recently recognised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) as one of the top ten corporate citizens in the country at the recently concluded Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards 2015, walking away with 5 accolades.
CBL also received the award for winner in the Manufacturing Sector among the best corporates in Sri Lanka.
In addition to being adjudged among the top ten best Corporate Citizens of 2015, CBL also walked away with the “Best Sustainability Project Award” for the development of the CBL’s Bees Honey production project which successfully revived the Bees Honey industry in the Uva Province and was also adjudged winners of the manufacturing sector under the “Best Sector Award” category.
Two of the company’s CSR initiatives were also proud recipients of a certificate of merit under the “Best Sustainability Project Award” category. CBL “Govi Pola” for having recognised the critical need to protect its farming community and “CBL Hope” for empowering differently able youth to live with dignity while contributing to the economy.

Mr. Shammi Karunaratne Director/Chief Executive Officer of Plenty Foods (Pvt) Limited accepted the award on behalf of the company from Mr. B. Wijayarathna, Secretary- Agriculture Ministry.
